My daughter is heading off to college this year, and I suspect the dorm room thermostat wars are coming. Every roommate situation seems to have one person who keeps the air conditioning on full blast and another who needs a blanket just to study. My daughter is definitely the latter, so I went searching for something warm, cozy, and affordable. While the Evergrace Fluffy Faux Mink Fur Throw Blanket is perfect for dorm life, I can already tell it would be just as wonderful on the family couch, in a reading nook, or anywhere we love to curl up with a good book.
This blanket is ridiculously soft and cozy, has a weight to it that feels genuinely luxurious, and the 60 x 80 size is spot-on for a twin XL bed or curling up on a sofa. It arrived in a sturdy box, folded and tied with a ribbon, and the second I pulled it out, I knew it was going with her to University of Houston’s campus.

If you’re looking for a blanket that delivers comfort, warmth, and luxury for yourself, your child who’s going off to college, or a friend, keep reading!
Why This Blanket Works for Dorm Life and Beyond
My daughter's dorm bed is about to become her bedroom, study spot, snack station, and occasional dining room, so I definitely don't want the bedding to scream, "I bought the cheapest thing I could find at Walmart."
Most dorm blankets are either scratchy fleece that pills after two washes or those waffle-weave cotton throws that look cute but provide zero warmth. The Evergrace faux mink throw sits in a completely different category. It is plush enough to feel like a splurge, but practical enough to toss in the wash after a late-night snack spill. The faux mink material has this buttery texture that makes you want to wrap up in it the second you touch it, and unlike cheaper fleece, it should stay soft wash after wash.
This will not likely be her main bed comfortable. I’m sure she’ll choose a comforter set with a cute design and her colors of choice; but this throw will be that touch of luxury that she can layer on top and grab as she pleases.
Here's why I think the Evergrace throw is ideal for students:
- Perfect size for twin XL beds: At 60 x 80, this will drape beautifully over a dorm bed without dragging on the floor or leaving my daughter’s feet exposed. It could also work as a couch blanket in a common room.
- Substantial weight without being heavy: This blanket has enough heft to feel secure and cozy, but it is not so thick that it makes you sweat.
- Machine washable and durable: She can toss this in the wash on gentle, and tumble dry it on low, and it should come out looking just as plush as day one. I’ll update this review if we experience something different!
- Elevates a basic dorm setup: Dorms are sterile and boring. A soft, luxurious blanket will instantly make my daughter’s space feel more personal and comfortable, (which matters more than people realize when you are living in a box with a stranger).
The Evergrace throw blanket would also makes an excellent gift. In fact, I’m planning to order another one for a friend whose kid is also headed to school this fall. It’s one of those rare items that feels expensive but is priced reasonably enough that you’re not stressed about a college student using it daily.
The Softness Is the Standout Feature
I’m going to just come out and say it: this is the softest blanket my daughter has ever owned.
We have had plenty of throws in our house over the years. Fleece ones that feel okay for a season before they get rough. Sherpa-lined blankets that shed everywhere. Cotton ones that look nice but do not provide much warmth. The Evergrace faux mink material is different. It has this silky, almost liquid texture that makes you want to rub it against your face, which I absolutely did the first time I pulled it out of the package.

The softness is consistent across the entire blanket. There are no rough seams, no weird texture changes, and no stiff edges. It feels very high-end. I already know my daughter will be cocooned in this blanket every day!
