I got my hands on a delightful newly-released children's board book this week, and it brought such a smile to my face that I wanted to share it with you!

The Unbreakable Piñata by acclaimed children's author Mike Alfaro is a colorful, interactive read that is sure to be a hit with toddlers and preschoolers. From the very first page, young readers are invited to help break open a piñata that's proving to be surprisingly stubborn. They'll shake the book, spin it, clap their hands, blow on the pages, and try all sorts of silly tricks in an effort to crack it open.

I didn’t exactly expect to be writing a “Vegas girls trip” post anytime soon… but here we are.

Last week, I took my two oldest daughters (ages 18 and 20) on a quick trip to Las Vegas, and it ended up being such a memorable experience.

Last week was my birthday, and yesterday, in the middle of a regular Tuesday, a beautiful white bakery box tied with a blue ribbon arrived at my door.

My husband opened the door, accepted the delivery, and brought it inside. The box was from Sister Bakery, a local gourmet cookie company based right here in the Tomball / Woodlands area, and friends… I was not prepared for what was inside.

So, yeah… my 12-year-old still doesn’t have a mobile phone. And I know for some families, that probably sounds late. But for us, it’s been a very intentional choice.

She’s homeschooled, spends most of her time with family, and we work hard to keep screens and devices limited in our home. Of course, this isn’t meant to judge any other family or pretend there’s one RIGHT answer to this whole mobile phone thing. Every family is different, and every child is different. For us, though, slow and steady has felt best.

Have you heard of IMBOX? I hadn’t either until recently, and now it’s one of those little discoveries I’m glad I stumbled upon.

I first learned about IMBOX when I purchased a pair of sneakers at DSW for my daughter’s birthday. The shoes were a soft, suede-like material --  super cute and perfect for everyday wear. But as soon as I saw them, I also had the very practical thought that many moms have: these are going to get dirty fast.

During our Spring Break trip to Galveston, we decided to try something a little different and booked a self-guided tour of Bishop’s Palace (also known as Gresham’s Castle). This historic Victorian-era mansion is often listed as one of the must-see attractions on the island, but I have to admit: I went in with fairly low expectations.

Spring has officially begun, and we kicked things off with something new that turned out to be an absolute hit: BRKTHROUGH at Metropark Square in Shenandoah.

October is National Pasta Month, and what better way to celebrate than with a delicious meal at one of The Woodlands’ most beautiful dining spots: North Italia at The Woodlands Mall! I recently had the pleasure of dining here (gift card provided by restaurant), and as always, the experience was delightful. From the warm, modern ambiance to the freshly made pasta and cozy patio vibes, North Italia never disappoints. Plus, they’re adding even more community flavor this season with a series of family-friendly movie nights that include complimentary pasta samples and kid crafts.
