If you're looking for a quieter neighborhood park where the kids can play while you enjoy a little fresh air, Pondera Park in Creekside Park is worth adding to your list. Located at 9090 Creekside Forest Drive (the entrance sign reads 8870 Creekside Forest Drive), this clean, well-maintained park offers a relaxing mix of playground fun, fishing, and natural beauty.
The playground features multiple play structures, including a fun climbing web, along with two standard swings, a baby swing, and an adaptive swing. You'll also find four picnic tables (two beneath a shaded pavilion), several benches, a drinking fountain, and a bike rack.
There's also a large open field dotted with beautiful trees, giving kids plenty of room to run, kick a ball, or simply explore. We did notice what appeared to be an animal burrow in the field, so it's worth keeping an eye out while little ones are running around.
One of Pondera Park's biggest draws is its peaceful neighborhood pond. It's a favorite spot for catch-and-release fishing, with anglers reporting catches of largemouth bass, crappie, and yellow bullhead.
Even if you aren't planning to fish, the pond creates a beautiful backdrop for a picnic or a quiet morning outdoors. Near the entrance, you'll find a small seating area where you can relax, enjoy the water, listen to birdsong, and watch squirrels scamper through the trees.
During our visit, we noticed a steady stream of walkers, runners, and cyclists using the sidewalk that passes the park. It adds to the friendly neighborhood atmosphere without making the park itself feel busy or crowded.
