If you're always on the lookout for new places to let the kids burn off some energy, here's one to add to your list!
Many churches have wonderful playgrounds that are open to the community during the week (just like the beloved indoor playground at Woodlands Church), and Champion Forest Baptist Church has recently given its outdoor playground a beautiful makeover.
Located at the Champions Campus on Stuebner Airline Road, the newly renovated playground is bright, inviting, and packed with fun for little ones. It's desiged for children 5 to 12 years old.
Kids will find swings, climbing structures, a merry-go-round, musical toys, a sandbox, and plenty of space to explore. While there isn't a lot of shade over the play equipment itself, there is a covered seating area where caregivers can relax while keeping an eye on the kids.
Grab a Coffee While They Play
One of my favorite parts? Randy's Coffee Café is right on campus! Located in the main corridor of the Champions Campus, Randy's serves everything from lattes and cappuccinos to a rotating selection of pastries and light bites. It's open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, with weekend hours as well.
Sounds like the perfect excuse for a coffee date while the kids play!
Outdoor Playground Hours
The outdoor playground is open to the public:
- Monday–Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Closed Wednesdays & Thursdays: 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Indoor Playground Too!
The church also has an indoor playground that's open to the community. I don't have pictures to share of those!
Current public hours are:
- Tuesdays & Thursdays: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
From what I can tell, you'll need to register online before visiting the indoor playground, so be sure to check the church's website for current details before heading over.
Don't Get the Campuses Confused!
A quick heads-up if you're not familiar with Champion Forest Baptist Church. The church has two locations, and the one closest to The Woodlands is the Klein Campus on Spring Stuebner Road. This article is about the Champions Campus on Stuebner Airline Road. The address is 15555 Stuebner Airlline Rd, Houston, about a 27-minute drive from The Woodlands. (If you've ever been to the Barbara Bush Library on Cypresswood, this church is just a couple minutes away.)
I don't know about you, but those two street names have confused me more than once!
Don't Miss the Library
Another hidden gem at the Champions Campus is the church's on-campus library. It's a cozy space filled with faith-based books, movies, and resources for all ages, including an extensive children's section that's worth browsing while you're there.
Library hours are:
- Sunday: 8:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
- Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Wednesday: 3:00 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.
- Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
A Different Kind of Family Outing
If you're looking for a family outing that's a little different, this is definitely one to consider. The kids get a fun place to play, you can enjoy a good cup of coffee, and there's even a library to explore before you head home.
And who knows? If you enjoy your visit, you may find yourself coming back on a Sunday to experience a worship service.
One quick note: Don't let the construction throw you off! The main worship center is currently being renovated, but worship services are still being held in a temporary location on campus. Everything else—including the playgrounds, library, and Randy's Coffee Café—is open and running as usual.
