There’s something really special about seeing kids work hard toward a goal, and even more special when that hard work turns into something truly impressive.
Local sisters MaCaelyn (14) and Jozalyn (11) Schultz recently showcased their Agricultural Mechanics project at the Montgomery County Ag Mechanics Show, and they didn’t just participate—they won their division and took home Champion Showmanship.
Their project was a beautifully crafted gazebo picnic table, built from the ground up after weeks of dedication, teamwork, and skill-building.

MaCaelyn, an 8th grader at Stockton Junior High, has been involved with Conroe FFA since 3rd grade and served as the primary welder on the project. This marks her fourth ag mechanics build, and each year she continues to grow and refine her craft. Working alongside her, younger sister Jozalyn—an 6th grader at Bozman Intermediate—handled much of the woodworking, while also learning welding techniques and assisting with metal prep.
These girls didn’t just casually put this together. They began designing the project back in February, carefully planning and preparing materials. From there, it was full steam ahead. They spent weekends, Spring Break, and long days in the shop, all leading up to a final push to complete the build on April 8, just in time for the Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo.

Their hard work clearly paid off, and they’re already thinking ahead. The gazebo picnic table is currently for sale ($6,000), with hopes of putting the proceeds toward their next big goal: building a trailer together next school year. (I'm in contact with their mother, so if you know someone who's interested in purchasing, drop me a line and I'll get you in touch with them!)

As the publisher of WoodlandsMommy.com and a mom to four girls myself, I love seeing young talent, determination, and sister teamwork right here in our community! Congratulations, Schultz family!
