If your baby lights up at the sound of music, you’re going to love this. We’ve rounded up a handful of upcoming music-themed events designed especially for babies and young children, and there are some truly sweet opportunities ahead to sing, move, listen, and explore sound together.
Many of our local libraries and children’s spaces incorporate songs, fingerplays, and movement into regular storytimes, and those are wonderful (be sure to find them on our Events Calendar). The events below, however, put music front and center. From rhythm and movement classes to live instruments and gentle musical exploration, these experiences are all about helping your little one connect with music in meaningful (and fun!) ways.
Why Music Matters for Babies
Music plays an important role in early development. Even before babies can talk, their brains are busy processing rhythm, pitch, and sound patterns. Exposure to music can help support language development, memory, motor skills, and emotional connection. Singing and movement also encourage bonding, social interaction, and joyful engagement, all while giving babies a safe, stimulating environment to explore.
Whether it’s shaking a tambourine, clapping along, or simply listening to live instruments, these moments help lay the foundation for learning in a way that feels natural and playful.
Below are some upcoming music-focused events worth adding to your calendar.
