Teachers play such a crucial part in shaping our children’s lives! Gift them a token of your appreciation with one (or more) of these simple ideas that are sweeter than just an apple.
- Starbucks gift card. Nothing says "thank you for putting up with my child all year" like a complimentary caramel macchiato (you know, to replenish the energy the students might’ve zapped over the past several months).
- Tiny potted succulent. No green thumbs needed! Succulents are a thoughtful gift to represent how much teachers help our kids grow. They’re easy to care for, and it’s a bonus if you plant it in a flower pot your child has painted.
- Ceramic mug. It’s nowhere near the “official” season for hot chocolate, but can you ever have too many mugs? Truthfully, the answer is YES, but if you're like me, you like being able to circulate new ones in and out as the years progress.
- Box of chocolates. Nope, it’s not just a Valentine’s Day thing! For something a step above the usual Ghiradelli squares, gift your child’s teacher a box of Karl Fazer milk chocolates. I first tasted these when my husband brought them back from Finland, and they quickly became my favorite brand! (Just so you know, some of the pictured details online are written in Finnish.)
- Beach blanket. Our Woodlands weather is only just warming up for the season, but the outdoor heat doesn’t mean snuggling is out of the question. A comfy blanket is a must-have for midday park picnics or indoor movie nights!
- Gourmet popcorn. Speaking of movies, what’s a late-night TV session without snacks? Level up the typical microwaveable popcorn bucket, and buy an assorted trio of gourmet flavors like zebra, caramel, and kettle corn (check Sam's and Costco). Not only will it make for a tasty end-of-school-year treat, but the presentation looks impressively delicious too!
- Ribbon-wrapped candle. Light up the summer with a salty beach-scented candle for your favorite teacher… or play it safe with a warm vanilla sugar scent. Extra points for WoodWick candles, which give off a crackling sound that’s just as charming as their smell.
- Ornate suncatcher. They say it takes a village to “rays” a kid, and the sun never sets on a teacher's influence! Give them a colorful suncatcher ornament to shine light on the impact they've made in your child's life this year!
- Glass bird. For an extra memorable present, pick out a glass bird (or other fauna sculpture) that’s perfect for adorning a mantel or classroom desk. These can double as suncatchers, or you can choose a frosted one.
- Handwritten note. This one takes a little more time and intention, but it might be one of the most meaningful gifts they receive. Show your gratitude by recounting one or two of your child’s favorite memories from class, or simply share how appreciative you are of the nurturing environment the teacher creates. BONUS: Have your child write a sweet note as well!
