Activities

Dinosaur Environment
Make a dinosaur environment with
the following materials: a shallow
cardboard box (you can use the
bottom of a case of soft drinks),
play dough (preferably brown in
color), rocks, and plastic
dinosaurs. Have fun hiding the
dinosaurs in the play dough and
letting your child find them.

Triceratops Craft Template
Simply cut and paste this
triceratops template to make this
easy craft template. You can do
this craft with or without brass
fasteners that allow the head and
legs to move.

Sponge Painting
Give your child a sponge and
practice sponge painting
dinosaurs on construction paper.
Don't worry if the paintings look
nothing like "dinosaurs." Just
pretend!

Dinosaur Puzzles
Enjoy putting together these drag & drop online dinosaur puzzles. Note: Your toddler will likely need your help with these 24-piece puzzles.

I'm a Mean Old Dinosaur
(Tune:  I'm a Little Tea Pot)

I'm a mean old Dinosaur
(Make a mean face)
Big and Tall
(Gesture hands big and tall )
Here is my tail, here is my claw.
(Gesture hands behind your back for
tail and make claw hands)
When I get all hungry
(rub your tummy)
I just growl
( exaggerate the grrroooowwwlll)
Look out kids I'm on the prowl.
(Tickle your child's tummy)

The Dinosaurs
The dinosaurs lived long ago, when
life on earth began.
(gesture palm up wave over your
shoulder)
Some were tall (gesture high).
Some were small (gesture low).
Some liked water (gesture swimming).
Some liked land (gesture walking by
alternating palms on your knees).
Pteranadons had leathery wings
(gesture flying).
Brontausaurs, long necks (gesture to
neck).
But the meanest dinosaur of all
(gesture mean face).
Was Tyranosaurus Rex (gesture heavy
stomping by alternating
palms on your knees).

Dinosaurs
Spread your arms, way out wide,
Fly like a Pteranodon, soar and glide.
Bend to the floor, head down low,
Move like Stegosaurus, long ago.
Reach up tall, try to be
As tall as Apatosaurus eating on a tree.
Using your claws, grumble and growl
Just like Tyrannosaurus on the prowl.

Dinosaur Rhyme
Five enormous dinosaurs
Letting out a roar--
One went away, and
Then there were four.

Four enormous dinosaurs
Crashing down a tree--
One went away, and
Then there were three.

Three enormous dinosaurs
Eating tiger stew--
One went away, and
Then there were two.

Two enormous dinosaurs
Trying to run--
One ran away, and then there was one.

One enormous dinosaur,
Afraid to be a hero--
He went away, and
Then there was zero.

BE CONSISTENT:

This is the most difficult part of
managing toddlers!
Sometimes, because you're
too tired or too busy with
something else, or whatever,
you might have a tendency to
overlook behavior that needs
attention. This is confusing to
the toddlers and then the
behavior gets worse! Try to
train yourself to be consistent
in the praise and re-direction
of your child. When you
step-up and are consistent,
you might be surprised how
"good" your child's behavior
becomes.
