Meet Jessica - June 2008
Spotlight Mom - June 2008

Meet Jessica...
Age: 27     |      Born in: Houston, TX      |       Currently resides in: The Woodlands  |  Kids: Sterling - 9 months old

Childhood Ambition:
To work with manatees as a marine biologist.

Fondest Memory:
The first time my son reached out and dove for me after I picked him up from the babysitter.

Last time I cried:
Since becoming a mother,  I have found that I am more tenderhearted, so I often tear up at a touching song on the radio (especially if it's about a parent and their child!).  My last real cry was several months ago.  I lost my grandmother to cancer last year.  When she found out she was ill, she fought for her life because her goal was to see my son born.  She missed meeting him by only 4 months.  Sometimes I cry when Sterling does something so special and fun and I remember that my grandmother is not here to see him and share it with me.  I know she will meet him one day in Heaven.

Special Talents:
My most special talent other than being a mommy is quilting.  I love to create beautiful and unique quilts for my loved ones.  I've even started a blog site with all of my sewing projects as a way to recapture a little piece of me. (jessica-sews.blogspot.com)

Proudest Moment:
Watching my husband the first time he saw our son.  He has amazed me as a father to our child!

Biggest Challenge:
The balancing act we call life!

Favorite Smells:
My son after a bath and my husband at the end of the day.  I love the natural smell of him.

Perfect Day:
Playing outside with Sterling, exploring new experiences for him like flowers and rocks.

First Job:
Cashier at a supermarket

Indulgence:
Breaks for yoga.

Last Impulse Purchase:
Soft, pink, shimmery yarn - I haven't learned to crochet yet!

Last Movie I Watched:
The Notebook.  I'm not much of a movie watcher but I just got back from a trip with my son to visit a good friend and her son.  One night after the boys went to bed we popped in The Notebook and had pizza and
brownies.  I felt like I was in college again!

Least Favorite Thing About Myself:
I tend to obsess on things instead of letting them go!

Who I miss the most:
On a permanent basis, I miss my grandmother.  On the day to day, I miss my son whenever he's not with me.

The last person I spoke to on the phone before completing this questionnaire:
My mother-in-law.  Fortunately we have a great relationship.

The furthest I've ever been from home:
Belize (honeymoon)

My life...
...is complete.
